The ordinance sets standards for halting the sale or distribution of single-use plastic bags at Haverford grocery stores, pharmacies, corner stores and other retailers. The new plastic ban ordinance makes plastic straws available only by request and single-use plastic beverage stirrers and plastic bags banned. The Haverford Board of Commissioners voted 8-1 in support of the new regulation, which will limit the use of single-use plastic bags, straws and stirrers in the township. HAVERFORD - With a second affirmative vote Monday evening, Haverford Township became the first municipality in Delaware County - and the fifth in Pennsylvania - to regulate the use of single-use plastic bags.
